Network Rendering

Pencil+ 4 supports network rendering with Backburner. We offer a free network rendering plugin and there is no limit to the number of PCs used for network rendering.

Network Rendering Setup Diagram

The diagram below illustrates the plugin structure required to perform network rendering with Pencil+ 4. The PC creating the network job must use an authorized copy of Pencil+ 4.

Plugin File Installation Directory

The Pencil+ 4 plugin file is installed to the following directory.

Example using 3ds Max 2026
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2026\Plugins\Pencil+4_***.dlt

Installing the Network Rendering Plugin

Copy the file Pencil+4_ntr_***.dlt to the 3ds Max plugins folder.

Example using 3ds Max 2026
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2026\Plugins\

Warning

The plugin version must match the version of Pencil+ 4 used on the Host PC.

Info

  • It is not necessary to install Pencil+4_ntr_XXXX.dlt if an authorized copy of Pencil+ 4 is already installed on the rendering node.
  • If Pencil+ 4 is already installed on the node, that version will be used even if Pencil+4_ntr_XXXX.dlt is also installed.

The network rendering plugin can be downloaded from the “Download” section of the PSOFT User Page.
