Network Rendering
Network rendering (rendering using the command line renderer) using Pencil+ 4 for Maya is possible using the following method.
Executing Network Rendering¶
To use Pencil+ 4 for network rendering, please install the network rendering plugin and render using the command line renderer.
Installing the Network Rendering Plugin¶
Execute the setup file ("setup_Pencil+_4.x.x_for_Maya_ntr.exe") and follow the instructions of the installer. If a different version of the plugin is already installed, please start by uninstalling it.
Resident programs, such as anti-virus software, may interfere with the product installation/uninstallation. If you experience problems with the installation/uninstallation, please temporarily disable your anti-virus software (or other resident programs).
Pencil+ 4 for Maya is distributed as a Maya plugin module. It is installed to the following directory by default. You can also move the contents of the [modules] folder to a module path of your choosing.
Plugin installation directory:
C:\Program Files\PSOFT\Pencil+ 4 for Maya\modules\
Warning
- The network rendering plugin can only render when Maya is executed with the command line renderer.
- The network rendering plugin cannot be used to edit and save files. If used to save files, the settings for all Pencil+ 4 nodes will be re-initialized to their default values.
The network rendering plug-in can be downloaded from the "Download" section of the PSOFT User Page.

Executing Network Rendering¶
Render using the command line renderer.
Command example:
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2026\bin\Render.exe" -r sw -s 1 -e 15 "C:\FileName.mb"
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2026\bin\Render.exe" -r pencil4line -s 1 -e 15 "C:\FileName.mb"
Warning
Please make sure that the plugin is loaded correctly when rendering.
